13 inch green satchel, 14 inch navy satchel, Cambridge Satchel Company, review, size comparison for Cambridge Satchel Company
In case it wasn’t already immediately obvious, Peaches’ and my largest obsessions are Sereni & Shentel headbands and Cambridge Satchels. And judging by the numerous posts we’ve done featuring these two companies and their BEYOND AWESOME PRODUCTS … I mean, seriously guys, it’s hard to miss.
Since Peaches has already done a review on the Cambridge Satchel Company’s 14″ batchel, I thought I’d kindly do a size comparison review instead, for people who are fumbling dazedly back and forth between the 13″ and 14″ sizes.
Wish I could do all the size reviews for you guys, but as my bank account will tell you … It’s simply not possible.
I get that it’s a confusing process when you’re trying to pick just one of these satchels. Some might describe it as a harrowing ordeal. Or, as I like to call it: an experience wrought with indecision and an endless soliloquy of insanity and self-pity… which, of course, describes the exact moment you discover you want them ALL but you just can’t bloody afford it.
So Minty’s here to clear the wave of confusion (hopefully). Or, you know. Maybe just confuse you more, then egg you on to do exactly what I did and purchase two. Because I’m bad, and I have no willpower.
Now, on with it.
While this may, at first glance, seem like an absolutely useless photo comparison of the two satchels – upon closer inspection, you will find that the 14″ Navy satchel is slightly larger than the 13″ Green satchel. Not by very much, but enough to notice that Navy is slightly wider and also taller than ol’ Greenie.
A side-by-side comparison of the two satchels.
Size difference is noticeable when placed right next to each other, but otherwise, the two sizes could be confused with each other when hanging off your shoulder.
Also, a little side-note: in person, Navy looks a lot like Black. So look closely in the store to make sure you’re getting the colour you want!
If you were wondering: YES! You can cram A4-sized documents in both the 13″ and the 14″! Only you’d have to squeeze your A4 papers in at an angle (and you probably couldn’t carry thick files with you) with the 13″. Navy on the other hand, fits A4-sized papers comfortably with plenty of room to spare for your daily essentials.
I also probably shouldn’t have to tell you that this depends on how much stuff you carry around with you on a daily basis and what you’re getting a Cambridge Satchel for. But you guys probably figured that one out by yourselves!
Front pocket sizes seem about the same for both, which really doesn’t help the decision process.
Another photo comparison of the two satchels.
It’s also worth noting that I can squeeze my wallet, 2x feminine essentials (what? you NEVER know!!), sunglasses, spectacles, mints (are you surprised? HEH), multiple pens (I don’t know why I need 3 pens, but if they’re in there, I must think they will come to good use), a small makeup pouch, key pouch, notebook, phone, wet wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, and loads of useless receipts in the 13″ satchel. With space to spare.
(Hm. I carry alot of stuff with me.)
Size dimensions for the satchels are as follows (via the CSC website):
13”
- Top flap: 13” (33cm)
- Height: 9” (23cm)
- Strap length: 55” (140cm)
- Weight: 0.9Kg
14”
- Top flap: 14” (35.5cm)
- Height: 9.5” (24cm)
- Strap length: 55” (140cm)
- Approx. Weight: 0.95Kg
And before I forget – you can most definitely fit an iPad (with cover) in the 13″ with ease.
Of course, the 14″ satchel is going to give you an added inch of space (the sides will stretch out eventually, hence allowing you to cram MORE stuff in!!), so this size will be more than enough if you enjoy carrying your house and office around with you.
Hope this helped!
