Finding new ways to disguise my tees and make them more work-appropriate is a challenging ordeal. Sometimes I wonder if my morning rush would be a lot less of a rush if I just stuck to the normal button-ups and silk blouses (it probably would be).. but then I remember that I can’t live without t-shirts, and that I can’t give up my addiction for jersey and unfortunately that’s really just the way the cookie crumbles.

Love this Rachel Pally printed chiffon scarf I got off of Shopbop a million years ago on sale. I just happened to dig it up this morning whilst rummaging desperately through the treacherous depths of my closet as my Blackberry was ringing off the hook, and tied it on half-skidding down the staircase.

In hindsight, I’m lucky I a) didn’t faceplant on the staircase, b) ended up being pretty pleased with how the look turned out when I was primping in the office toilet. Maybe I should have more of those tense morning moments…

Hehee.

Half-moon Nails & Light Layering

Forever 21 top, Fluxus grey-marl vest, American Apparel leggings, Diva faux pearl necklace, Gorjana & random old silver beaded Prayer bracelet (similar here), Muji bag, Meizko studded flats

Saw this nail tutorial over at The Beauty Department and decided to try it out for myself, largely because I happened to have an old box of unused reinforcement rings leftover from my days in total abandonment unfair imprisonment the middle of nowhere boarding school… lounging in the corner of my table, mocking me every time I reach for a fresh post-it…

Anyway.

One botched nail, three minor screw-ups, several stretched-out reinforcement rings (that’s what happens when you think you know better than a tutorial) and many, many splotches of silver and navy polish later… I finally did it.

YAY.

It’s a fantastic departure from my usual nail routine, and totally easy-peasy as well, which is probably another reason why I decided to give it a go.

And you should too.

You can thank me later.

Denim Tunic

H&M tunic, ASOS pin, Portmans silk scarf (as seen here & here), American Apparel leggings, David Lawrence flats, all DIY bracelets (colourful friendship bracelet also seen here), Chloe Marcie bag

The weather can’t seem to make up its mind today – first it was blazing hot, and now there are tufts of dark clouds loafing around with the heavy promise of rain trailing along with it.

Luckily for me, this tunic from H&M seems to be one of those amazing pieces of clothing that adapt magically to the climate, keeping you warm enough in a cold room (you know, hypothetically… not that I ever really feel cold around these parts) and cool enough that you don’t sweat your face off the minute you step out on the street.

I’m telling you, this top is sartorial gold when you live in the Land of Neverending Summer. GOLD.

On that note, who said you can’t wear denim to work? 😉

There is a distinct difference between an outfit I’d wear on a short flight, and one I’d wear for the long-haul.

Minty's Travel Series Part 3: What I Wear on a Long-Haul Flight

Minty's Travel Series Part 3: What I Wear on a Long-haul Flight

Top by Agent Ninety-nine, American Apparel white tank (underneath), Sportsgirl harem pants, Country Road wrap/scarf, RumbaTime rubber watch, Steve Madden flats

The difference is, I’m a ginormous slob on a long-haul flight.

Although to my credit, I’ve decided to wear flats today because I seem to be under the general impression they’ll make me look less hobo, and more hobo-chic.

…

Man am I going to pay for this dearly later on the flight when my feet swell to twice their usual size.

BUT WHO CARES, ‘COS I’M HEADED TO MELBOURNE FOR A FORTNIGHT! THAAAAT’S RIGHT!

FRIENDS, COUSINS: CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULES!!! MINTY’S IN TOWN!

…

Well.

Maybe I should start sending out a coupla texts and BBMs. I’m largely aware my nearests and dearests don’t check this blog nearly as maniacally as I’d like to believe. -_-

x

If you’ve missed out on previous posts in my Travel Series, here’s Part 1 & Part 2!

And also: what did you think of this? Should I do more series? Let me know in the comments (+ hit me with suggestions for other series), and thanks as always for your feedback and support! 😀 xx

Hm. Looking at these images is a terrifying experience for me. Am still attempting to work out which settings work best in different lighting situations and don’t even get me started on the horrors of editing … so I can only hope you get the gist of it, as it’s pretty obvious I’ve got miles to go.

Uh … Many, many miles.

It might be decades before I’ll ever offer to photograph anybody professionally… if ever (read: MOST LIKELY NEVER.)

Here’s hoping there’s points for trying though, seeing as how about 50% of you have voted for more outfit posts from us!

On that note, Peaches and I would really like to thank each and every one of our awesome readers for all your love and support. We just can’t say it nearly enough. You’ve all been insanely sweet to us from day one, and you have no idea how incredibly blessed and lucky we feel every single time we receive a lovely comment or e-mail from one of you, so keep them coming!

Have a wonderful day wherever you are and God bless.

I seem to enjoy weekends more these days, probably because I get to wear shorts when they roll around. That’s one day out of seven that I get to do this, seeing as how I work 5 and a half days a week.

One just can’t help but feel a tad miserable about it.

If only it was appropriate to turn up to work in shorts… especially in this kind of heat.

A girl can dream, eh?

I am a fan of maxi dresses as they are the best cover-ups in one’s closet besides black. Or a pretty poncho. From my entry here, I had bought 3 same maxi dresses in different colours from this site called ThePopLook.

As I’ve been having some free time on my hands as of late, and rummaging through my closet – here are 3 looks to go with the pleated maxi dress in Grey (middle):

LOOK 1: Back To School

Cover up and still look cool by carrying around a notebook. Win!

Top – American Apparel; Satchel – Blanco; Layered necklace – Asos; Notebook – Paperchase

LOOK 2: Luncheon

Leather bag & belt- Vintage from Mum; Bib necklace – Asos; Assorted bangles & rings – flea market (thrifted)

Pluck off that shirt, and show some skin at lunch!

Look 3: Night Chic

Blazer with stud detailing – H&M, Sequined waist belt – Cats Whiskers

Pop on a blazer, and you’re set for a night out. The studs and sequins help make this otherwise plain dress pop!

So that’s my 3 very simple and easy looks today that’ll bring you from day to night at a great budget 😀

I probably wear these t-shirts by American Apparel to work a little too often, but they’re so classic and criminally comfortable that I can’t help it, and in any case nobody really bothers with what you’re wearing in my line of work anyway. As long as you don’t turn up in your birthday suit.

Also, I’ll admit that memories of a certain impromptu site inspection in silk and patent-leather shoes still haunt me to this day…

Anyway here’s a peek at what I always seem to need on a day-to-day basis, and absolutely can’t leave home without.

Daily essentials: notebook, phone, mints, watch, hand sanitizer.

Been wearing my Nixon watch to bits lately. Love how its face is rimmed with a shattered-acrylic sort of finish, and how it goes with everything! I couldn’t ask for more in a timepiece.

Closet Confessions

This morning as I was getting ready for work (yes, I work half-day on Saturdays, boohoo for me), I was staring into the abysmal mess that is my closet and suddenly felt incredibly bothered. I’ve never realized my subconscious hobby is hoarding clothes, and this is starting to get really bothersome. Where did all this stuff come from?

At this point I can almost hear Peaches nag at me from 2000 miles away in Bangkok, telling me to cleanse myself of all the excess and donate some clothes somewhere. OKOK, Cleansing, cleansing, hehehe.. Wish I had a magical wardrobe that automatically irons and folds clothes the minute I toss a fresh load of laundered clothes in.

How’s that for wishful thinking, eh? Meh. I must now muster the determination and courage to tackle the monumental task of re-folding that awaits me when I get home. Eww. I hate folding.

Personal crisis aside, here’s what I managed to pull out from the depths of the carnage.

Again, some items are not exact, but similar as pictured:

General Pants top, Sportsgirl pants, Longchamp Le Pliage small tote, Tang+Co shoes, Tiff&Co bangle, RumbaTime watch, American Apparel belt, stud earrings, Bourjois blush in 48 Cendre de Rose Brune

**top, pants, shoes not exact

Again, nothing too fussy with today’s outfit – I seem to gravitate strongly towards monotonous colours, and that’s largely due in part to the fact that I always seem to be rushing through my morning routine. A monotonous colour palette blends together cohesively without complaint and doesn’t require a large amount of time spent in front of the mirror agonizing over whether this matches that, etc, etc. Apart from random bursts of colour lent to my look by any accessories, bags or shoes, this seems to be my fall-back colour scheme whenever I need to get dressed in 2 minutes flat.

Hope you enjoyed this post guys, and have a fantastic weekend! Mine is going to be spent doing absolutely nothing.

Just the way I like it.
